The

American

Dream

My Italian grandfather immigrated to his beloved America in the early 1900's.

Born into a fishing family on the little island of Ischia, just off the Naples shore, he sought his fortune in a similar fishing town called San Pedro, California. USA

My grandfather arrived with little more than the clothes on his back and the steadfast determination that made this country great. He began by working on fishing boats belonging to other captains.

Capt. Pasquale Artiano

By the time he was 65 (the age when other men were retired or dead) he remained married, had 4 children, saw his house built to nona's (grandma's) specifications (Italian tile in the bathroom, etc) and was his own boss as captain of 2 fishing boats, both named after my grandmother: Santa Teresa.
